Trampoline Time
A few years ago I bought a trampoline at Sam’s club under pressure from Becca and Jill. They said if I bought it and put it at the Faux Farm, they would gladly go out there more often. I fell for it. The box was only about 4 feet long and 3 feet wide but it weighed 4 million pounds. Becca and Bob spent an entire day putting it together. There were fights and arguements and many left over pieces put it finally went up. It was huge. It reminded me of that insulation foam that just keeps expanding because it was hard to believe that huge thing came out of a box that size. After the novelty wore off it mostly sat unused in my backyard. Except for the time a huge wind storm sent it sailing across our lawn and if not for the bunch of large pine trees that stopped it, the darn thing would have slammed into my neighbors house.
I in all honestly I never liked it because it ruined my Faux Farm image. Having said that I will add that many Amish farms have trampolines. So although they aren’t farmy looking, they are a part of many a farm. Since my girls have gotten more interested in boys and bras and less interested in jumping around it was time to get rid of the trampoline. It was in great shape so I asked Anna and Amos if they would like it. they live across the street from me and have four kids. They are Amish. They said they would love to have it and so with we arranged to move it last Saturday with the help of my other neighbors. If only I had a video, I would have been the YouTube video of the day. My three English neighbors and my two Amish neighbors and all the kids moved this giant trampoline with the help of a red wagon and my wheel barrow all the way down my driveway, across the street and into their yard. It was heavy, bulky and cumbersome but we did it. And now the trampoline has a new home, at a real farm, with little kids laughing and jumping. And my yard looks all the better for it being gone. All is well at the farm.
