Bake Sale at the river.
What to do on a rainy day at the River? We bake till we can’t bake no more. We all know I don’t like to cook but I do like to bake. I used to bake all the time with my kids. Yes, I lick the spoon and the spatula and yes I let my kids to do the same, even if we used eggs. We haven’t died yet from Salmonella but there is always the chance and we like to live dangerously. My sister on the other hand will not let her kids eat the batter because as my niece told me “the egg comes out of the chicken’s butt”. Well, now there’s a reason to stop eating eggs altogether. My kids now bake on their own or not at all so I had to import my niece and nephew for a day of baking. We also had other assorted children that we found in town that wanted to join us so we had a full house of pastry chefs. Of course we used boxed cake mix, I like to bake not experiment! The actual baking part still creates problems for me as I burn a lot of my creations. This is probably because I eat too much of the batter and it doesn’t take as long as it should to cook due to the reduced volume of batter. Aside from eating the batter, the only other reason I like to bake is that I like to decorate. I have pastry bags and a ton of pastry tips, sprinkles and all sorts of good stuff. We had a good time with that pastry bag until someone squished it and didn’t keep the other end closed. Kid!!!
They thought it was so funny that it happened several times!
The creations were beautiful and tasty. What they didn’t eat we sold!
When the sun came out in the middle of the afternoon and we set up a lemonade stand and sold lemonade for 10 cents and cupcakes for 25 cents. They made 21 dollars! Of course I had to pay the older kids extra money to hose down my kitchen so we didn’t stick to the floor from all the icing and dropped batter.
Just some good old fashioned fun up on The River.
