Little Eggs
While I was pruning some trees the other day I came across this nest.
I could not see inside as it was a bit too high up for me so I just grabbed my camera and started to take photos without knowing what I was actually aiming at.
The nest was rather small and made of that silky mildweed white fiber and twigs.
It wasn’t until the next day that I saw the mother bird, she was rather small and yellow. I couldn’t get close enough to her to take a photo as she flew away before I ever got close. I have been up at The River for a few days now so I am sure that these eggs have hatched by now.
Can you see the rain drop on the far right egg? They were so delicate and small.
As I continued my pruning I was startled by a bird flying out of another bush. I looked around and there was yet another nest. This nest had newly hatched birds. Everytime I got close to the nest they opened their beaks thinking it was mom bringing them food. I didn’t stay around too long so that the mother could come back to them and feed them. I can’t tell you what kind of bird she was.
Can you see his little eye and beak and fluffy little head? There were actually three hatched chicks in this nest. Maybe I can be a nature photographer after all- not withstanding the whole coyote decoy story.
