Look What I Found
I have been going through my photo files and lost a batch of my Steamboat Springs photos. I couldn’t believe that I could have possibly deleted them but they were no where to be found. Until… I was on Bob’s computer and looked in his picture file and there they were – aahhhh a sigh of relief. So while we are enjoying all this hot weather at 91 degrees I thought I would share a few cooling photos.
I really love the old weathered wood they have out west – back here it would be all rotted from the humidity or eaten by termites. Funny thing about termites. Up at the River all the old wooden homes are from the late 1800′s and are still in great shape even though the are only summer cottages and are closed up every winter. I think the biggest reason is that they have no termites up here – too cold for the buggers. Just a little known fact – now back to the snow.
I was wondering if that is why all these old barns are still around out west – perhaps they don’t have termites either.
The cool water of this melting snow would feel so good right now. There is no breeze up here and it is stinking hot.
This is one of the actual springs from the Steamboat Springs area. This one is called Strawberry Springs. They built all these cool little pools and cascading water falls and rock ledges. The pools closer to the spring head have the hotter the water.
This is where the steaming hot water comes out of the ground and starts to trickle down to the pools.
And here are the people just soaking up the hot water on a cold winter’s day. Gee- I started out talking about being too hot and looking at the snow photos to get cool and I ended up with people wanting to be hot because they were too cold. Temperature – go figure!
I may post more of these wintry photos as I am making a photo book on shutterfly of our trip to Steamboat. – who knows what I will come up with.
