It needs a little paint
I told Sylvan I would come out and help do some chores before the wedding but that I didn’t really want to do inside woman’s work like cleaning etc. I wanted to be outside. He said they had a big pile of gravel coming for the driveway and I could spread that around. “Ooh” I said “I could do that but can’t they dump it in smaller piles along the length of the drive instead of one big pile?” He laughed and said “I was just kidding, they spread it when the dump it”. “Whew, that job would have made washing windows look good.” So I went into the barn and saw that they had white washed the barn. As we were talking he realized that the men would be in there leaning against the stalls and would end up with white all over their pants. He demonstrated and yes indeed, he had a white arse. He decided he would power wash the stall fronts and I said that I could paint the rusty bars. He didn’t look like he thought that was something that needed to be done but I insisted that I would be out on Tuesday with paint and brushes and he would be amazed at how good it would look. Personally, I think that Sadie had been bossing him around so much, getting ready for this wedding, that he was plum wore out. He just said ok.
And I came out to the barn on Tuesday with my paint and brushes and look at the great job I did. It was easy doing the outside of the bars. However, I hadn’t really thought about the inside part of the bars when I had this idea. Turned out I had to go into the stall with the horses and all that poop even though I tried to get to the backside of the bars from the front side, but my wrists just couldn’t turn enough to get all the way around. Also, once I was in there, my little step ladder kept sinking down in the hay. I thought I might tip over and fall into all that poop. I wasn’t really thrilled about that part. The horses didn’t look too thrilled either, about the makeover or me being in there with them, but hey or is that hay – they’re just horses. What do they know.
What a difference, don’t you think? I know they thought I was crazy but they indulged my painting intuition and when I was done, well. All I can say is, it looked great. It looked nice and fancy. And they all liked it! And I loved it!!!! And I think this guy was liking it too!
