1000 Island Winter
Bob and I decided to take the trip up to the River cottage in the Thousand Islands after Christmas.
We were already in Syracuse so it was a short trip. Well, acutually it was a 1- 1/2 hour long trip through the sleeting rain and fog. An ordinary person would look at this as a drag, but I saw photographic creativity in all that fog. It was a great opportunity to see the area out of season. I wish there had been a little more snow and ice, apparently that comes later in the season. Like when you can’t get through on the roads cause they are covered in 10 feet of snow along Route 8. So these photos may be the only wintery scenes I will ever get of the park. So here you go. I hope you enjoy them.
This is South Bay.
These are our docks that have been pulled towards shore for the winter.
This is the yacht club in the winter all iced over.
Ok, enough of my backyard. Let’s take a walk down the street and look around.
You didn’t think I meant leterally a picture of the road now did you. Hey Stu – that pot hole has your name written all over it!
The swim cove. I really should show you the summer photos right next to the winter ones for the pure effect. That would be soooo cool. But I would have to search through all the photos and find just the right one and then I would never finish this post. Stop whining – ok, fine, I will do it, but just for one photo.
This is Turtle Rock in the summer.
This is Turtle rock in the spring and notice that the water is a lot higher. And now for the one you have been waiting for.
Turtle Rock in the winter. I wish the snow had been on the ground for this one.
I am so glad you made me do that. Of course I am missing fall – so now I have to wait 10 months to get that shot. Thanks a lot for showing me that glaring deficiency. Corrective measures will be taken! If I am going to do this season thing of the same shot I also think I should mark out my position so I get the same angle and frame and distance. I will read up on that as well and get back to you in the photography section on how that all works out.
And so I shall end this wintery session of the River with this final photo. Check out my photography section for some more photos of 1000 islands on ice.
Frozen boathouses!
