A Quilt to Remember
My friend Cheryl is a quilter and an artist. A fiber artist to be exact.
Look closely at this photograph of her quilt entitled “Leaving Us”. (this photo is the correct color -the following photos are not accurate because I took the photos-sorry) She made this for the Alzheimer Book of Quilts called “ Forgetting Piece by Piece“. The first tree has strong roots, and is full of leaves. Each leaf is labeled with a name, a date, or memory. The second tree has receding roots, some of the leaves are falling and along with it the memories they carry.
The third three has no roots, most of the leaves of memory have fallen and only a few remain on the tree.
The three trees show the progression of the disease. I think she did a suberb and moving job in the concept, the design and execution. I am so proud of you Cheryl!
Information on the book and quilts.
And Cheryl’s quilt is on the cover of the CD. And shows the true colors better than my lame photos of the picture from the book. See Cheryl’s work at her website www.cheryllynchquilts.com
