It’s Planting Time
Finally, it is time to plant the corn. I love when they get the fields are smooth and ready. First they rake it out and then they disc it. These are the discs that are used to make the nice smooth dirt.
This corn is only a few weeks old -hard to believe it will get as high as an elephant’s eye (you know from the song Oklahoma).
And from a distance these little corn stalks make a beautiful design. I love the way the farmer plants this field. One day the farmer saw me taking pictures. He happened to be out driving around in his vintage Corvette (obviously not Amish) so he stopped to chat with me. I told him I would give him a copy of the pictures I was taking and a few weeks later I stopped by and dropped off the pictures. He said a lot of people have taken photos of his fields and promised him a picture but I was the only one to actually give him a copy of the photos. Go figure.
