No Hope.
As we approached this boat house I asked our driver to get closer. I wasn’t quite sure what I was seeing.
And there it was. A very sad boathouse that was just a little bit more than neglected. In fact, there is no hope for this once grand boathouse.
They say that at one time in history they used to host fancy parties and dances in the upstairs. People would come by boat from all over the river to attend these parties.
So what do you think happened? Did they run out of money or interest. This decay does not happen over night. The demise of this once grand boathouse was years in the making. And at one time it could have been salvaged.
Now it would appear that it is just waiting it’s turn to fall into the water. Just waiting to take the final plunge into the St. Lawrence River and say goodbye forever.
But until that day it will remain a sad reminder for all those who pass by that if you do not take care of what you have on a regular basis, it’s glory days will come and go and then it will just disappear. I think I am going to start to work out and take some vitamins. I know a sign when I see one. I see the proverbial writing on the wall. This is the sign I have been waiting for to motivate me to take care of myself or I will become boathouse.
