My mountain folk parents.
When my sister sent along the gorilla photos she included some photos of my parent’s trip to Colorado this past summer. More blog fodder for me!
Here is the happy couple on their way to the famous summer cabin. It almost look like they are standing in front of a painting doesn’t it. Well, they are not. My folks are the adventuresome type and so they loaded up the truck and they went out into the wilderness. that is real country you are looking at. My sister’s in-laws live in a cabin, in the middle of Colorado in a remote part of a national park for the entire summer. They have no TV, no phone, no mail, no electricity and no running water. Sounds a little Amish to me. My niece loves to there and visit themand so my parents decided that they would like to visit too. My niece is 5, so of course this is fun. My parent’s are 80, but they are old school, so they think this is fun too, just like the old days when they were raising 4 girls. My sister says we were raised as Amish men and that is why we like working outside and playing outside and pretending that we are pioneers.
This is the famous cabin. There is Mike’s dad and my dad looking all mountain like. Which one of these character’s doesn’t belong, which one is not like the rest? The guy in the weird hat perhaps?
Hold on Dad, you could fall off that thing. I notice that she didn’t let him drive. Smart move on her part.
Looks like a good hardy breakfast. And they need it cause they need to go chop wood. My Dad said they spend their days taking care of the stove. They have to feed the wood stove every few hours because it is the only source of heat, the only way to boil water, and the only way to cook. Therefore they have to haul the wood in from the outside, and the have to cut wood for next season, and then they have to stack the wood and then they have to clean out the stove and then they have to put more wood in the stove and then they have to bring in more wood and on and on. It seems that life is centered around this stove. Too bad we can’t get a better look at it-it is only peeking out from the lower right side of the photo. They do a few other things out there also.
Well, maybe that is a little too much information. A two seater outhouse. Why?
My dad looks like a typical tourist and my Mom looks like she is holding on for dear life. Is she going to fall over or is she being blown over? Those two kids are always fooling around.
And speaking of kids fooling around. Who uses an outhouse as the goal post?
Here is little Mila and all her grandparents. I hope she knows how lucky she is to have them all together out there in such a beautiful place. Well, she does now, cause her mom reads the blog to her, so listen up Mila. YOU ARE LUCKY! Keep smiling.
Love ya,
Faux Farm Girl,
