This is the foot of Rafiki, the silver-back gorilla. As I told you in yesterday’s story Rafiki had that terrible infection in his mastoid bone.

My sister, the zoo vet, sent along some more photos and so I am here just to share them with you, cause they are so cool. The photo of Rafiki’s foot is by far the best.

You really get a sense of just how big he is in this photo. I like that they covered him up a bit. I guess they didn’t have a hospital gown, even though they say  those gowns are “one size fit’s all”.

His head is so huge and quite frankly I am surprised that he even fits on that cart. by the way he is 25 year’s old and weighs about 450 pounds.

 

You will be glad to know that he has made a great recovery. thanks again for the photos Della. I am still waiting for the Smithsonian channel to write me back.  Maybe I will send them to the Discovery Channel too! I will let you know if anything comes of it.
