My newest sock monkey. Isn’t he cute.? My little key chain sock monkey. Some people may think I have a sock monkey obsession. I know nothing about that.On the other hand I do think the Kia sock monkey commercial is the absolute best, ever!  And yes, I still have the sock monkey Kia song as my ring tone on my phone. And just as an aside, did you know that the song “How do You like me now” took the cool horn riff from a song from the early 60″s by a band called Dyke and the Blazers. The song is called “Let a Woman be a Woman and a Man be a Man”. Check it out and you will certainly recognize the tune. But back to the sock monkey story. Ever since the Superbowl commercial aired everyone has jumped on the sock monkey band wagon. I went to the pet supply store today and there, right before my very eyes was a basket full of sock monkeys. Happy, smiling sock monkeys. But little did they know. They were being sold as dog toys. Imagine that! Those poor little sock monkeys being torn limb from limb and having their head bitten off by some chew hungry teething dog. It is just too sad to think about. I was so unnerved by the sight that my first reaction was to buy them all and save them from a fate worse than death. But they were $20.00 each. So I left them there. To die. Alone. I am clearly having second thoughts and the guilt has forced me to write this post  in protest. Hopefully you will read this and you will all go to Cutter’s Mill Pet Supply and take one home for Christmas. SAVE THE SOCK MONKEYS!!
