My Posse
When we were growing up my sister Virginia and I had a neighbor girl who was sometimes a friend and sometimes a foe.
Her name was Danette and can you guess which one she is? Yup, the one in the middle. The one with the most apples, the one making a fist, the one sticking out her tongue. I came across this photo not long ago and all my young childhood memories came back. We played with her all the time. First, there weren’t many kids around and second her grandpants owned a diner and always brought home really good food. Her Mom used to let us watch cartoons on TV on Saturday mornings and for lunch would make us tunafish sandwiches and tomato soup. She would serve us on little TV trays. I loved going there and remember that fondly to this day. My Mom would never have done that.
I understand that Danette became a nurse and really good one too. Who knew!
